History of BMW Motorcycles

The Treaty of Versailles that changed the face of BMW. Until the end of World War 1, BMW Manufacturing Company and aircraft engines. Famous emblem of a circular blue and white, which is said to represent aircraft propellers in motion, being the last reminder of the company. The fact that the logo actually derives from the colors of the flag of Bavaria, and was used a good 12 years before BMW began to build aircraft engines, has done nothing to interfere with the popular myth.




When the air is the BMW German power was dissolved and outlawed after the war, to divert attention elsewhere to put bread on the table. After briefly flirting with the manufacturer of agricultural machinery and even office furniture, and began building motorcycles. And R68, and provided a motorcycle sports in 1952. This was a 594cc machine to become something of a collector's piece, also produced less than 1500.

1950 saw a decline in demand for motorcycles. This period saw a decline in the production of 30000 units to less than 6000 by the year 1957. By 50 late is being exported for the vast majority of motorcycles BMW to the United States, Butler and Smith Company.
